Firefighters Kids Camp is a special week where children who have suffered serious burn injuries can share an enriching experience in a safe and nurturing environment. The camp is held for one week in the summer and provides young burn survivors with a fun and safe outdoor experience that encourages healing, personal growth and character development. Camp is an excellent opportunity for kids to continue their rehabilitation process alongside other children also in various stages of recovery. Camp fees are fully funded by FFBI and partnering organizations including our annual sponsors.
Interacting with others who have had common experiences and challenges helps campers better realize that they are not alone. Through peer interaction and role modeling, they gain the confidence needed to make the transition from victim to survivor.
Providing an environment that empowers our campers to challenge themselves both physically and mentally promotes positive attitudes, fosters peer support and provides an opportunity for our campers to learn that they are capable of anything and everything.
The Camp is staffed by well-trained and enthusiastic volunteers, most of whom are firefighters, burn care professionals and adult burn survivors. Camp includes an on-site nurse familiar with the special needs of our campers recovering from burns.
Please contact Firefighters Burn Institute if you have any questions.
